My First Stitch Fix - September 2013

My fabulous daughter purchased me a $20 styling fee credit towards trying Stitch Fix.  It is like having a personal shopper pick out fun clothes and accessories for you.  Actually...that is what it is!

I was a bit nervous about trying this out because when I went on the site, I only saw young women in the reviews.  I am 50 and not model thin, but gave it a try.  I now want to share so that other women out there might try Stitch Fix and enjoy themselves as much as I have.

Stitch Fix will change the way you shop!  I never know what will look good on me, what is currently in fashion, and rarely try on anything out of the ordinary.  Stitch Fix allows you to do all of this in the privacy of your own home.

You begin by filling out a short questionnaire about yourself;  along with your likes and dislikes.  Then you schedule your first "Fix."  You can schedule one once a month, twice a year or never again.  It costs only $20 for each styling fee and that $20 goes towards anything you buy.  You can buy one item, two, or all five.  If you purchase all five items in the "Fix" you get an additional 25% discount off the total.  Whatever you do not want to keep, you place it in a prepaid envelope and put it in a mailbox to go back.

If you decide to do a "Fix" for yourself, please use me as a referral as I get credit towards more goodies:  https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/3175511.

I nervously awaited my first "Fix" and poured over the other reviews on their website.  I liked what I saw, but what would they pick out for me?

I had scheduled my first box to arrive on a Friday so I would have the weekend to try everything on and send pictures to my daughter for her input.  Then I would have a few days to make my decision.  You have three days to look everything over, try it on, and decide what to keep and what to send back...if anything.

My first box arrived!

My first Stitch Fix Box was at my house waiting for me....I was so excited!  I had had a long hard day at work and this was just what I needed.

I could hardly wait to open it up and see what was inside!

My first impression was "I love all the colors!"

I next decided to  pull everything out and try it on.  I have recently lost over 25 pounds and gone down two sizes in clothing, so didn't know what to expect.  Everything I have been wearing involved black for the past few years.

Each item comes with a card that gives you ideas on how you might choose to wear it. Here is what was in my box:

I liked what I was seeing, but would I like them on me?

Now to try them on....

I tried the dress on first.  It was a little tight through the bust, but it felt fun and flirty.  I liked the color and was so excited it fit!  It wasn't something I would normally try on.
My daughter really liked it on me, but I wasn't sure so I tried it on again and took some more pictures.

After working so hard to lose weight, I just felt like it didn't show off my figure enough...I had the weekend to think about it before I had to make a final decision.

Next the black top:

This was very comfortable and showed off my figure, but I already have a lot of black tops in my wardrobe.  I will ask my stylist if it comes in any other colors.

   On to the next top:

My daughter loved this top on me...I tried it on with my skinny jeans.  I thought I looked like a blob!  She laughed, but I was serious!

I decided to try it on with some shorts and a sweater:

I liked it better, but when I saw that the price was higher than I would normally spend on a top, I decided not to keep it.

Next the blazer!

I love this blazer!
I live in a warm climate, but work in air conditioning, so need to wear layered clothing.  This will fit perfectly into my wardrobe!  (although it did not add color, which I was looking for)  It is soft, comfy and different from anything I have.

These earrings were sparkly and nice, but nothing special.

So....

I have decided to keep the Shae Striped Blazer and send the rest back.  I have placed the items
in the pre-paid envelope and will go Online to Stich Fix to tell them what I liked, what I didn't.  I will review my payment for the Blazer...minus $20 :)  and order my next Fix!

I can hardly wait!  I asked my stylist Miata for some more clothes to wear layered for work with more color and maybe some slacks or exercise/workout wear.
I hope you decide to try Stitch Fix and have some fun.  It is only a $20 investment.
